When we first created YouTube channel it’s possible that we either picked a URL that isn’t quite in line with what we have built our brand today or YouTube may have provided a default channel URL.

Once you have built a brand and good number of subscribers, its not easy to create a new channel with the brand name and start from all over again.

Thanks to YouTube, now there is a simple and easy way to set the custom url for your YouTube channel.

Eligibility requirements

2. Your channel needs to have 500 or more subscribers
3. Channels is at least 30 days old
4. Channel has uploaded a photo for the channel icon
5. Channel has uploaded channel art

Once you’ve qualified for a custom URL, you may receive email and also a notifications in your channel if your updated custom URL is ready to claim. You’ll see several options that YouTube provides based on your channel’s description, Google identity and associated websites.

You can also qualify for a custom URL by linking and verifying your official webpage with your channel or Google +Page. Steps provided here

To get your custom URL

1. Sign in to YouTube and click on "YouTube Settings"
2. Click on Advanced button next to the profile image in Overview screen.
3. In the Channel settings area, look for the notice to claim your custom URL and click the included link.
4. You’ll be redirected to Google +page to claim a custom URL.

8. Now click on Confirm Choice(Once you confirm a URL, you cannot request to change it. When you're sure, click Confirm choice).

This URL will be linked to both your YouTube channel and your Google+ identity.

Few questions that you may have
1. Will I loose my subscribers - No
2. Should I need to change the subscribe link on the old annotation - No, the old url will still take the users to your channel.

Now enjoy the benefit of the brand name.
